Scientific Proof Ganoderma Lucidum Triterpenoids Against Influenza
Winter, especially when the temperature drops sharply, is the easiest time for influenza viruses to spread. At this time, besides the need for Ganoderma lucidum extract polysaccharides to help us maintain good immunity, we also need the total triterpenoids of Ganoderma lucidum which can “suppress influenza virus” in order to provide more health protection.
Influenza is different from common cold
Compared with the common cold (caused by common cold virus) is only throat pain, runny nose, uncomfortable for two or three days, the course of influenza (caused by influenza virus) usually more than seven days, and not only throat pain, runny nose, but also fever, headache, body ache and other strong symptoms of discomfort.
Influenza viruses causing influenza can be further divided into two types A and B basic to their structural characteristics.
Influenza Type A is the most dangerous
The gene of influenza B virus is not easy to mutate, or the degree of mutation is little, so as long as once infected, the antibody produced in vivo can play a long-term role, not easy to cause serious complications.
The more headache is the influenza A virus. The H1N1, H5N1 and H3N2A viruses that have caused the world’s chickens and flying dogs to jump in the past are such viruses, because they are prone to “evolutionary versions” because of genetic mutations. When they invade the body, the original antibodies of the immune system will be useless, and it will take time to produce new antibodies.
This is also the reason that people’s resistance to influenza A virus is relatively weak, which is easy to cause a large-scale epidemic, and even lead to serious complications such as pneumonia, and the fatality rate is relatively high.
Mechanisms of Ganoderma lucidum extract triterpenoids against influenza virus
In 2015, the team of associate professor Shimizu Bangyi of Kyushu University, Japan, published a report in Scientific Reports, pointing out that Ganoderma lucidum triterpenoids can inhibit the growth and spread of influenza A virus by inhibiting the activity of “neuroaminase”. Several triterpenoids have the potential to further develop into new anti-influenza drugs.
Neuraminidase is one of the two protein receptors that protrude on the surface of influenza A virus, i.e. the so-called “N” of “H several N several”, which is the key to the spread of influenza virus in vivo.
Influenza viruses must enter cells before they can replicate another new virus. When the replication of the new virus is completed, the help of neuraminidase is needed to isolate the virus from the original cells and infect other cells.
So when the neuraminidase of influenza virus loses its activity, the new virus will be locked in the cell and can not spread further, then the number of viruses in the body can be controlled, and the immune system will be much easier to deal with.
These are the mechanisms of Ganoderma lucidum triterpenoids against influenza A, and are also the pharmacodynamic principles of influenza A, which are commonly used to treat influenza A.
Many kinds of triterpenoids of Ganoderma lucidum have effects against influenza virus
The study, conducted by Kyushu University in Japan, examined the inhibitory effects of 31 triterpenoids in the fruiting bodies of Ganoderma lucidum on the neuroaminase activity of five influenza A viruses.
These 31 triterpenoids include 18 ganoderic acid, 6 ganoderenic acid, 3 ganoderol, 2 Ganoderma nondiol and 2 lucialdehyde.
The five influenza A viruses are H1N1, H5N1 and H7N9, as well as H1N1 mutants (H1N1, N295S) and H3N2 mutants (H3N2, E119V), which have become resistant to influenza A.
The results showed that the 31 triterpenoids of Ganoderma lucidum could inhibit the activity of neuraminidase of the five influenza A viruses to varying degrees at a concentration of 200 um, and none of them could “win” all the viruses (detailed in the table below).
Complete Ganoderma lucidum can help you survive the winter
The so-called strong solidarity, the choice of a variety of triterpenoids containing Ganoderma lucidum total triterpenoids (Ganoderma alcohol extract) can help us cope with the changing influenza A virus; at the same time, plus Ganoderma lucidum polysaccharide (Ganoderma lucidum water extract), strengthen the immune system’s ability to respond, can help our health neutral in the cold winter.
