Effect of Epimedium Extract on inhibition of lung tumor growth and immunomodulatory
Tumor is one of the world’s highest mortality diseases. In the all kinds of new tumor incidence, lung cancer incidence is the highest one on 2015 cancer reports latest statistics. Although the develpmont of surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy technology can help and improve the treatment of lung cancer, these treatments take serious side effect and grievous injury on patients. According the long years clinical study show the strong effect to aganist cancer of Traditional Chinese Medicine can relieve the clinical symptoms, improve the quality of life and prolong patient survival with tumor. So it is a significant way to get a TCM medicine to treatment the lung cancer to get a strong effective result. Nowadays, the TCM medicine already get world’s recognition and support, they mainly make the effective function in inhibition of biosynthesisaction,angiogenesis, Promote cell apoptosis, immune regulation and etc.

The Epimedium belong to the Epimedium brevicornu Maxim, Epimedium Sagittatum Maxim, Epimedium pubescens Maxim or Epimedim koreanum Nakai. In the Traditional Chinese Medicine , the epimedium mainly used to tonifying kidney-yin, strengthen muscles and bones, antirheumatics and etc. Nowadays, the epimedium extract not only for above function but also to the health of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular, bone , provision for immunity regulation, and inhibit the cancer and etc. Recent years, the research of epimedium for cancer mainly to breast cancer but not certified clearly. So in this study, we mainly make to observe the effect of epimedium extract on tumor growth of lung cancer by establishing the model of lewis tumor-bearing mice.
The same time use ELISA testing the level of TNF-α, IL-10, IL-17, IL-2 in serum; Ki67 and P53 protein expression was detected in lung cancer tissues by using Western blot assay method and immunohistochemical assay method. The experimental results showed the HE has certain inhibitory effect on Lewis’ lung cancer tumor growth, and it can reduce the levels of TNF-α, IL-10, and IL-17 in serum, improve the level of IL-2, significantly decrease the expression of Ki67, and significantlly increase P53 expression, HE has obvious inhibitory effect against lung cancer , and has the ability to improve immune regulating effect.
This study reveals the anti-lung cancer effect of Epimeidum maybe related to its ablitiy of improving immunity, thus provides the basis for further research on anti-lung cancer effect of Epimedium extract. More Scientific research and development , please check here
